In Passing

Interactive Film and Audio Installation
an installation between two adjoining rooms :

In the first space, a 16 mm b&w film loop is projected onto a mirror leaning against the back wall whose reflection is cast onto the front wall. The moving image displays a series of joined and disjointed cycling hands

Looked at again and again half consciously by a mind thinking of something else, any object mixes it self so profoundly with the stuff of thought that it loses its actual form and recomposes itself a little differently in an ideal shape which haunts the brain when we least expect it.
— Virginia Woolf, Solid Objects, A Haunted House and Other Stories
Adjoining room :

Ashes are loosely set in a rectangular form resembling a carpet along with a wall text :

Upon passing between the two rooms, viewer’s shadows superimpose the film projection which triggers an audio component comprising a series of verbal descriptions about the ash carpet.

To hear the continuity of the sound viewers must continually pass between the two spaces. Nonetheless; either intentionally or inadvertently viewers tend to re-configure the ashes.
