Gingerbread Women

Performance

Suspended on a swing structure in the shape of a heart are homemade Gingerbread Women cookies (created from a DIY cookie cutter in the form of a women much resembling ancient female effigies from Mesopotamia).

Synopsis

Inaugurating the love fest of St. Valentines Day; a performance unravels with the dissemination of Valentines’ cards. Bound in ribbon upon unfolding them is a text inviting participants to read aloud their personalised message : I am followed by an individual ingredient or intention ie : ginger, love, sugar, surrender, flour, etc,...

In a poetic musical and rhythmic overlapping of voices the participants metaphorically and collectively mix the ingredients, mingle and discover each others mantra.

Participants are gifted a Gingerbread Woman Cookie at the end of the performance and together EAT them up !

The swings suspended ribbons; weightless without the Gingerbread Woman Cookies freely hover and sway.
