Out of Place
Installation : Sculpture / Drawing / Painting
The installation components from this series Out Of Place touch upon interdictions in relation to experiences of and within the female body. Embodying an intimate and personal voice; the artist questions an existing cultural hierarchy of pain and its relations to desire and choice. Particularly female physical pain (periods, gestation, childbirth, etc.) is invisible, misunderstood, non-existent, and/or taboo in our dominant patriarchal culture. Yet half of the population is born female.
